Lexicon Inc. recently announced the promotions of Mike Colvin and Justin Smith, who will both be based at the company’s headquarters in Little Rock. Colvin will take the position of Plant Manager for Prospect Steel and Smith will be Plant Manager for Custom Metals.
“As dedicated members of the Lexicon family, we are proud to promote Mike and Justin to plant managers within their respective specialties,” said Lexicon President and CEO Patrick Schueck. “Over their combined 54 years of service, Mike and Justin have demonstrated that innovation is driven just as much by people as technology and hardware. Under their expanded leadership capacities, we will become an even better workplace that continues to prioritize and support its people.”
Colvin has held various roles in his over 31 years of employment with Lexicon, most recently serving as the quality assurance manager in the maintenance division – which he maintained when he later transitioned to Custom Metals. Responsible for the development and implementation of quality management, Colvin worked to ensure systems were in accordance with the American Institute of Steel Construction’s regulations. In his new role, Colvin will lead Prospect Steel’s structural steel fabrication and coatings operations.
Smith started at Lexicon as a welder more than 23 years ago. Over the years, Smith went on to become a foreman and later a plant manager. Involved in some of the company’s most notable projects, Smith has worked with Nucor Convent pressure vessels, Nucor Brandenburg crane girders and the AEP Rockport SCR project – which won Custom Metals the Supplier Commendation Award from Babcock Power. Prior to joining Lexicon, Smith worked at Rohr Inc., an aerospace manufacturing company, and Trinity Industries, where he utilized submerged arc welding for stainless food-grade pressure vessels.
