The Arkansas Department of Transportation has recently announced a litany of highway closures across four counties as a result of various projects to improve infrastructure. These projects have already begun, but ARDOT has not provided expected dates of completion for all of the projects underway. The projects are as follows:
- Pulaski County
- Work on I-30 in both Little Rock and North Little Rock will result in weekly lane closures. These will include daytime closures (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.), overnight closures (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.), and some 24-hour closures. Double lane closures will generally be limited to between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. For a full list of what lanes and ramps will be closed, click here.
- Garland County
- Construction to widen 1.5 miles of Highway 270 (Albert Pike Road) to five lanes will require a traffic shift through the intersection with Highway 227 (Mountain Pine Road) in Hot Springs. The project will also include improvements to the interchange. For more information, click here.
- Jefferson County
- Multiple ramps along I-530 South will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on August 9-10 to replace stop bars and direction signs. The ramps are expected to be closed for an hour each. Drivers will be directed through ramp areas with message boards, signs, and traffic drums. Full the exact list of what ramps will be closed and at what hours, click here.
- Craighead County
- Improvements to a box culvert on Highway 226, north of the intersection of Highways 49 and 226 and County Road 441 near Valley View, will result in a temporary highway closure. The closure is expected to remain in place for approximately 3 weeks, and drivers are advised to find alternate routes.
