The University of Arkansas has set two architecture firms to restore the Fine Arts Center.
The UA Board of Trustees selected Deborah Berke Partners of New York and Miller Boskus Lack of Fayetteville to work with the university and the Fulbright College of Fine Arts on the restoration project.
The firms will begin by validating the project through a programming and scope exercise and then moving to the schematic design phase. University officials expect the project to cost approximately $38 million and will be funded primarily with grants.
Multiple organizations will be participating in the project, alongside Deborah Berke Partners and Miller Boskus Lack. Con-Real Construction will serve as the project construction manager, while Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates will be the historic preservation consultants. The university has also engaged Development Consultants Inc. as civil engineers, HAS Engineering as the mechanical engineers, Martin/Martin as the structural engineers and Ground Control to oversee campus master planning and sustainability. Charcoalblue, a theater designer, will also participate in the process to preserve the University Theatre in the Fine Arts Center.
Construction on the project is slated to begin in early 2022 with a planned finish of fall 2023.
